In 2005, I was planning a 50th birthday bucket list trip for my husband. He wanted to explore his grandfather’s footsteps in Wold War I. Once I had completed the research and presented it to him, we discovered he had family roots nearby. Hot on the trail of his family genealogy, we were soon re-connecting with relatives in Germany and other countries, forming lasting friendships. My addiction to heritage travel was born and I have since pursued formal genealogical & travel training, but most importantly, made personal connections with relatives for family and clients in ancestral villages around Europe.
